What a relief! The election is over.
Half the country is happy and the other half is sad.
Advertising outlets, especially TV stations, have once again made a mint. What's new?
A spirit of compromise and willingness to work together is the order of the day. The die-hard ideologues of both political parties should take a rest.
The president's challenge is to use the power of his office and his rhetorical skills to provide more consistent leadership in drawing upon the best ideas of each political party in addressing the complex economic and social issues facing the nation.
He may surprise us now that he does not have to be concerned about re-election.
