Jury selection in Cape Coral day care shooting in 4th week

FORT MYERS — It's been four weeks and a jury still hasn't been selected in the murder trial of a southwest Florida man accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife at a day care center.

Court officials will resume jury selection on Tuesday in Fort Myers.

The Fort Myers News-Press reports 440 potential jurors have been called by prosecutors and the defense team for Robert Dunn. Local lawyers say that's an unusually high number of potential jurors.

Officials say the two leading factors to the delay are pretrial publicity and views on the death penalty.

Dunn faces the death penalty. He is charged with the first-degree murder of 36-year-old Christine Lozier-Dunn on Jan. 26, 2008, at the day care center where she worked in Cape Coral.
