It's Your Business: Naples Harley-Davidson to provide food for school

Naples Harley-Davidson has partnered with the nonprofit Blessings in a Backpack to sponsor a Collier County school.

Backpacks full of food for the weekends in January will be provided to children attending Golden Gate Elementary.

Naples Harley-Davidson will sponsor 50 children at the school but the list of eligible students on free and reduced-lunch programs is approximately 800. The business is asking other local businesses and individuals to donate to this program and feed the remaining students.

Radiation Therapy reports fewer losses in quarter

Fort Myers-based Radiation Therapy Services Holdings Inc. narrowed its losses in the third quarter.

The company, a leading operator of radiation therapy centers, reported losses of $90.5 million, down from losses of $230.3 million a year ago.

The third-quarter losses in 2012 and 2011 included impairment charges related to revisions in the company’s financial forecasts, largely as a result of reductions in reimbursements and a sluggish U.S. economy.

The company expects to see continued declines in reimbursement for radiation treatments and expects rate cuts to have a $20 million effect on revenues in 2013, but it plans to lessen the impact through cost reduction initiatives, improved managed care pricing and growth.

Growth includes a focus on expansion opportunities in Latin America, said Dr. Daniel Dosoretz, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement.
