Collier County sheriff's deputies are investigating a report of a home invasion robbery in Golden Gate that resulted in a struggle between a resident and two intruders Thursday night.
A person at 5362 Hemingway Lane West reported the robbery at 8:11 p.m., telling deputies two masked men in dark clothing knocked on the door and barged in when the door was answered, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kristi Lester said.
A struggle involving a firearm ensued, Lester said, and one shot was fired, although it did not hit anyone. The resident was taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries from the physical altercation, she said.
Detectives searched the area with K9 and aviation units but were unable to locate the suspects. Lester said the suspects were about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, but said she was not given any further information on their descriptions.
Some property was taken from the home, but it was unclear late Thursday what items were taken.
