Lee County deputies seized more than 25 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 Thursday.
Deputies stopped a commercial car hauler in Bonita Springs for a traffic violation, according to a news release. During the stop, a narcotics canine alerted to the presence of drugs, deputies said.
Inside a Chevrolet Impala, detectives found five spare tires each loaded with about five pounds of high-grade marijuana from California. The net weight of the marijuana was 25.2 pounds, according to deputies.
The Chevrolet was seized while detectives continue their investigation. Anyone with information about the drugs is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 239-477-1000 or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
