Handyman accused of stealing employer's $36,000 Rolex

An East Naples handyman is accused of stealing and pawning a client's $36,000 Rolex watch earlier this month, according to Collier County deputies.

A man who lives on the 3200 block of Sedge Place told deputies the watch had been taken sometime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 11. Through an investigation, detectives learned the watch had been pawned Nov. 10 at the Capital Pawn Superstore, 1933 Davis Blvd., for $4,500, according to an arrest report.

Records showed Early Ray Johnson, 51, as the person who brought the watch in. Johnson had worked as a handyman for the watch's owner, most recently painting his door frames, an arrest report said.

Johnson, of the 8600 block of Saddlebrook Circle, faces charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker.

Handymen are not supposed to be doing any painting. You must be a licensed painting contractor. Collier County Licensing Board needs to start enforcing their codes. NEVER HIRE AN UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR!

A painters license, great joke. Do they have to memorize a color chart.
