Two women who were passengers in a sport utility vehicle are accused of stealing the vehicle after the driver exited to tell a nearby police officer she had been threatened by one of them, according to an arrest report.

The driver said she had picked up three women, including suspects Sarah Lynne Yarmouth, 29, and Marlena Malice Elbert, 25, and was driving west on Fifth Avenue North when Yarmouth began to threaten her, the report said. By the driver's account, Yarmouth threatened to "beat her face in" and said she didn't care about going to jail.

Around 11:45 a.m., the driver abandoned her Cadillac Escalade at a stoplight and ran out to tell a nearby Naples police officer about the threat. As she approached the officer, she saw the SUV driving away, according to a report.

Officers found the SUV abandoned behind 1005 Fifth Avenue North and caught the three passengers, who ran from the vehicle.

Elbert, of the 500 block of 13th Street North, Naples, faces a charge of grand theft auto. Yarmouth, of the 1300 block of Bayport Avenue, Marco Island, faces charges of grand theft auto and assault and was found named on a warrant for domestic violence battery.
