A Bonita Springs man is behind bars after he was caught breaking into an electrician’s work van and stealing his wallet Tuesday, Naples police report. Police then linked him to two other burglaries of nearby homes.

Taryn Mikhail Sloan, 23, of the 11200 block of Dean Street, faces three burglary charges, two petty theft charges and a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The electrician was finishing some work at a home in the 2300 block of 14th Street North early Tuesday evening when he went to his van to get an invoice and discovered his wallet was missing, according to an arrest report. While looking for the wallet, the electrician’s client noticed a man, later identified as Sloan, “lurking in the bushes across the street,” reports said.

The electrician and his client confronted Sloan, ordered him to empty his pockets and discovered he had the wallet, reports said. They pinned Sloan down until police arrived.

Sloan, who had been staying at his girlfriend’s home in the 2300 block of 14th Street North, admitted to burglarizing another home on the block and a home in the 1300 block of Royal Palm Drive earlier in the day.
