Man accused of breaking into foreclosed home

Thaddeus “Ted” John Szczypta faces charges of burglary, petit theft, cocaine possession, criminal mischief and trespassing.

— A 58-year-old man is accused of breaking into a foreclosed home Wednesday night in East Naples.

Thaddeus “Ted” John Szczypta, who told Collier deputies he is homeless, was arrested inside a home on the 1300 block of Briarwood Court after a man reported seeing someone smoking inside the house, according to a report.

Deputies said it appeared Szczypta broke in through a rear bedroom window. At the home, they found cigarettes, a tool set, crack cocaine and empty beer cans used to smoke it, according to an arrest report. Szczypta told deputies he needed a place to stay.

Szczypta faces charges of burglary, petit theft, cocaine possession, criminal mischief and trespassing.
