Farmer Mike's U Pick is reopening in Bonita Springs after being closed for two years because of damage done by freezing temperatures.
The family-owned and -operated farm will reopen Dec. 1 on Morton Avenue for its 18th year of business.
U Pick allows guests to pick their own produce from fields or buy from a stand the produce that has been picked for them. The farm is open seven days a week.

Donlan joins Lee County agency
Francesca Donlan has joined the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau as communications manager.
Donlan, who will work to promote the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel Island, previously served as campus coordinator for marketing and college relations at Edison State College and was a News-Press columnist.
Bonita Springs manager to address meeting
Bonita Springs City Manager Carl Schwing will discuss economic growth in the Bonita Springs-Estero market in a talk next month.
Schwing will review opportunities for real estate investment and development at the Dec. 11 meeting of the Real Estate Investment Society. The program will include an overview of the Bonita Springs-Estero Economic Development Coalition and collaboration with other regional agencies to promote growth and development.
The meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. in the Osprey Room at Pelican Preserve's Clubhouse, Treeline Avenue at Colonial Boulevard, one mile east of Interstate 75. Cost is $25 for members and $40 for guests, which includes lunch. Reservations are required by Dec. 5 at www.reis-swfl.org.

Encore bank can proceed with acquisition
Encore National Bank has received regulatory approval to continue trying to acquire two Southwest Florida offices of Liberty Bank.
Encore will assume some $80 million of deposits associated with the offices, which are in Naples and Bonita Springs, and buy about $17 million of loans and other assets. The transaction is expected to be completed on Dec. 31.
