Local youth column: Local teams chosen for FBU national championship tournament

Football University, one of the most prominent youth football training organizations in the country, will hold its 64-team national championship tournaments beginning Dec. 1.

There will be three divisions representing grades six, seven and eight.

Last week, FBU released the roster of the Southwest Florida teams, made up of players from Pop Warner Hurricanes, Gators, Bears, Immokalee Seminoles, NFL League, First Baptist, Community School, Naples Pirates, and Marco Island.

There are also players from Pop Warner Fort Myers Firecats, Cape Youth, Riverdale Wildcats and Canterbury School.

Local teams will play their first-round games on Dec 1 and 2 in Orlando.
