Detectives investigating string of East Naples break-ins, car thefts

Burglars broke into at least four cars and garages overnight Sunday in an East Naples neighborhood, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

Residents on Dennis Circle in the Glen Eagle community reported the thefts Monday. The thieves stole a 2002 Toyota Camry and a 2007 Nissan Altima after finding their sets of keys in another unlocked car, according to an incident report.

The woman who owned the unlocked car said she was keeping the other sets of keys for neighbors who were gone for the off-season. The two stolen cars were worth an estimated $10,000 and $15,000, deputies said.

Another man who lives in a unit in the 7100 block of Dennis Circle said someone broke into his unlocked car and stole $300 from his wallet. The burglar did not take the wallet itself or the credit cards inside, he said.

Deputies did not take a written report for a burglary reported at the 6700 block of Dennis Circle. A report of a stolen vehicle in the same block was not available from the Sheriff's Office late Tuesday.

An investigation into the thefts is ongoing.
