An East Naples man was taken to jail Monday after a Collier County sheriff's deputy reported finding him ransacking a woman's car.

Around 1 p.m., a woman on the 5300 block of Carolina Avenue told deputies a man who followed her and her children home from the library tried to get into her locked house. The woman then looked out her window and saw the man rummaging through her car, according to an arrest report.

A deputy arrived and found 35-year-old Stanley Jonassaint in the car's passenger seat with a black cloth case on his lap, the report said. The deputy ordered Jonassaint to stay put and held him at gunpoint until backup arrived.

Jonassaint, of the 4700 block of Dominion Drive, faces a charge of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.
