Members of the Knights of Columbus called it the "preseason dinner," a warm up for when season begins.
Originally the first spaghetti dinner, with Knights organizers Al Schulick, Herman Giglio, Chris Karlik and Bud LaMendola, was done to help a church woman's group in 1978, The next dinner and subsequent fish dinner nights have been Knights of Columbus fundraisers.
Prep work for the dinners begins the day before. In season more than 600 take part in spaghetti and fish dinners during Lent.
