The Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has sponsored its first trip to China.
"For us, the ultimate goal is that there be a cultural exchange, for Americans to experience first-hand the way life is in China," said Christine Ross, executive director of the Bonita Springs chamber.
A mixed group of 37 residents, including two chamber staff members, began the eight-day trip Monday. It was open to the general public.
The trip will allow travelers to experience Chinese culture and attractions, but the chamber also hopes to gain cultural understanding of how the United States fits into the global marketplace, Ross said.
The Bonita Chamber is also hosting two cultural trips to Italy in April.
