An East Naples woman was arrested early Sunday after stiffing a cab driver, cursing at Collier County sheriff's deputies, slipping off one of her handcuffs and kicking a deputy in the shin, according to an arrest report.
Deputies were called to the 2900 block of Poplar Street just after midnight after a cab driver said an intoxicated woman was refusing to pay her fare. The woman, later identified as Barbara Helen Vreeland, 60, yelled at the deputies and would not tell them the name of someone who could care for her, reports said.
As deputies took her into protective custody, Vreeland continued to yell at them, even as they explained she was not being charged with anything, according to reports. Once at the Naples Jail Center, deputies said Vreeland had slipped off one of her handcuffs, continued to yell at them and resisted their attempts to search her.
At one point, Vreeland kicked a deputy in the shin, reports said. Vreeland, of the 2900 block of Poplar Street, faces a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer.
