A Broward County woman was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash that snarled traffic on Alligator Alley for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Angelica P. Rimoli, of Lauderhill, was driving west on Interstate 75 near mile marker 83 when she drifted into the median around 3:38 p.m. Rimoli then overcorrected and lost control of her 2004 Kia Sorrento, causing the car to rotate and overturn several times.
Rimoli, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Troopers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The wreck shut down westbound lanes of the interstate for several hours while FHP responded.
