Deputies: Woman arrested for stolen checks

An East Naples woman is accused of using stolen checks to buy pizza and gift certificates to a hair salon.

In mid-October, a man told the Collier County Sheriff’s Office that his checkbook had been stolen and that two of his checks had been used at Domino’s Pizza and Tory’s Hair Care. The man said he believed the checkbook was stolen from a woman who rode in his taxi cab.

An employee at the hair salon said a woman later identified as Amanda Ann Pavka, 25, had purchased five gift certificates for $100 each.

Deputies arrested Pavka at her home on the 2800 block of Terrace Avenue on Tuesday. She faces charges of grand theft, forgery and uttering a forged instrument.
