Deputies in Lee and Collier counties arrested 640 accused felons as part of a statewide operation in September and October, according to officials.
The Florida Sheriffs' Task Force led Operation: Felon Sweep from Sept. 28 to Oct. 22 with the intent of removing felons from the street.
In Collier County, deputies made 182 felony arrests resulting in 265 felony charges and 118 misdemeanor charges. They also confiscated seven guns, 12 pounds of marijuana, 50 grams of cocaine, 331 grams of prescription pills and $56,015 cash.
Lee County deputies arrested 458 suspected felons, charging them with 1,074 felonies and 305 misdemeanors. Those arrested included Scott Sica, 36, accused in the murder of a North Carolina police officer, and Fred Johnson, 47, who faces 44 counts of fraud.
