Encore National Bank has named Richard Fain senior vice president of commercial lending for Lee County.

Fain will work at Encore National's south Fort Myers office on Summerlin Lakes Drive. He graduated from North Fort Myers High School and played football on scholarship at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Fain also played three years in the National Football League, one with the Cincinnati Bengals and two for the Chicago Bears.

He returned to Southwest Florida in 1994 to pursue a banking career, spending most of his career at banks such as Bank of America, SunTrust and Wachovia/Wells Fargo.

Encore National Bank has five branches in Southwest Florida.

CPA firm will hold seminars in September

Myers, Brettholtz and Co. will host a series of free nonprofit "sunrise quickinars."

They will be for nonprofit organizations in Lee County, focusing on accounting practices and requirements specifically for nonprofits.

All seminars — which are free — are coordinated with the Naples Daily News and the Southwest Florida Community Foundation in partnership with United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades. The next seminars: Tuesday, Sept. 11, at United Way in Fort Myers, 7273 Concourse Drive; and Wednesday Sept. 12, in Naples at the Daily News, 1100 Immokalee Road.

Bain appointed to Florida Bar council

Basil L. Bain, of the Bain Law Firm, has been appointed to the Executive Council of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar.

The primary purposes of the section are to assist the courts in improving the administration of justice, to promote the art of trial advocacy, and to preserve and protect the jury system.

The Naples law firm practices civil trial law emphasizing the resolution of complex business and commercial disputes; probate, estate and trust issues; and personal injury claims.
