Alligator Alley.

During the four-day Labor Day weekend, the Florida Highway Patrol increased the number of troopers patrolling the Alligator Alley stretch of Interstate 75 in Collier County and issued 482 traffic citations.

The citations issued by troopers included 383 for speeding. They also cited 13 motorists for driving with suspended licenses, 15 drivers for failure to wear seat belts and seven for violating the move over law.

The FHP reminds motorists that it is the law to move over when approaching any authorized emergency vehicle or wrecker displaying rotating or flashing lights stopped on the side of a roadway. Also, remember that *FHP (*347) dialed from a cell phone contacts FHP should the need arise for roadside assistance or to report an aggressive driver.
