GOLDEN GATE ESTATES — In some communities, seeing a bear is commonplace. But it's another thing when those bears are coming too close for comfort.
Wednesday, Linda Fox told a story that residents in her Golden Gate Estates neighborhood off Wilson Boulevard know all too well.
"'Whoa! What are these bears doing next to my house?' And I was a little afraid for the kids," she said. "The mother dragged the whole trash can over here dumped it out and all four of them were right here on our front porch eating and we were inside looking out the window."
Another Estates resident says bears have come up to his doorstep as well, adding that his attempts to spook the scavengers are pointless.
