One person was shot and hospitalized late Friday during an attempted robbery in Bonita Springs.
Just before 11 p.m., two men were walking in the area of Hampton Street and Old 41 Road when they were approached by at least two other people who attempted to rob them, Lee County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Stephanie Eller said.
One of the men was shot and was transported to the hospital. His name and status were not immediately available. The other man was not injured.
“A witness at the scene saw a vehicle leaving the scene,” Eller said. “We located that vehicle and now have multiple suspects detained.”
Deputies had crime scene taped stretched across Old 41 Road around 12:30 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office received the call just before 11 p.m. Deputies are currently looking for the alleged shooter somewhere in the Old 41 Road area, agency spokeswoman Stephanie Eller said.
The victim is being transported to a local hospital. The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately clear.
