West Marine is closing its two East Naples stores and next week will open a new, larger store in Naples.
The stores — at 2025 Davis Blvd. and in the Courthouse Shadows shopping center, 3360 U.S. 41 E. — will close Sept. 20.
The new store — nearly 14,000 square feet — will open Sept. 21 in the former Books-A-Million in Naples Plaza, across from Coastland Center. The other two stores combined are about 18,000 square feet.
"This is the new West Marine, the new large format stores," said Stephen Baglio, the store's general manager. It will feature greatly expanded selections of engine and boat parts, fishing products and clothing accessories, he said.
"The feel and look is totally different," Baglio added.
About 98 percent of employees from the two closing stores will work at the new store, he said.
