Man accused of DUI after chase, crash that hospitalized four

A 42-year-old West Palm Beach man is accused of driving under the influence early Monday after authorities said he sped away from Collier County sheriff's deputies and crashed into a tree, sending himself and three passengers to the hospital.

Bryan S. Gardner faces charges of reckless driving, driving while license revoked, DUI, DUI with property damage and three counts of DUI with injury, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A crash report said Gardner was fleeing Collier deputies in a 2011 BMW four-door vehicle around 12:15 a.m.

As Gardner drove north on Eighth Street Northeast, one of the deputies tried to stop the vehicle. Gardner kept driving, ignoring a stop sign and crossing two lanes of Randall Boulevard onto the north shoulder, according to the report.

The front of his car then crashed into a pine tree, troopers said.

All four occupants of the BMW were hospitalized.

Gardner was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Brittany Maynor, 23, of Naples, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition, according to a crash report.

Marco Prieto, 32, and Jacob Gardner, 22, both of Naples, were taken to Physicians Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
