A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after Collier County sheriff's deputies said he robbed the Flamingo Vegas Casino in East Naples on Sunday.
John A. Hill, of the 1700 block of Kings Way Boulevard, East Naples, was charged with unarmed robbery and petit theft.
According to reports, the victim told deputies that Hill, who the victim personally knows, had robbed the casino on Sunday afternoon. The victim told deputies Hill had come into the casino in Promenade Plaza on Airport-Pulling Road earlier during the day to ask for money, according to reports. The victim told Hill she could not give him money and he left, according to reports.
Hill then came back a short time later and told the victim he was robbing her and to give him money, according to reports. The victim told deputies she thought Hill was joking at first, but he became aggressive and told her he had a gun, according to reports. He also produced a note that said, "Put the money in the bag and no one gets hurt," according to reports. The victim gave Hill about $250 and he fled the store, according to reports.
Deputies located Hill at a home in the 1900 block Shadowlawn Drive, where Hill was taken into custody, according to reports. Hill told police he robbed the casino, but said he did not have a gun and didn't remember telling the victim he had a gun, according to reports.
