Man reports $23,000 missing from briefcase

Naples police are investigating the disappearance of $23,000 from a man's briefcase.

A man who lives on the 700 block of Seventh Avenue North told officers he noticed the money was gone Saturday when he went into the briefcase to retrieve some of it. The last time he had checked it was July 20, he said.

Detectives said there did not appear to be any forced entry into the residence. The man said the only people who were in his house and knew where the money was were immediate family members.
