Letter to the Editor: Back to the Boardwalks

I have been a Marco Island resident for 21 years. We live near the Tigertail Beach Park. I walk on the beach nearly every morning.

At the beginning of this year, four out of seven boardwalks leading to the beach have been dismantled. One of them has been nearly reconstructed now for several months. But it is still barred from the public – evidently, not quite ready to be walked on. The other three have all been started – the new posts are in. But they, too, are not usable.

My questions are:

Why did the work stop a few months ago?

Why not finish at least one boardwalk for public use?

When will construction resume?

In a couple of months, tourists and visitors will be back on the beach of Tigertail Park. We residents take pride in our park. The state it is in now is very disturbing to the eye.

Hopefully, the boardwalks will be up and complete before the snowbirds arrive.

It's Collier County's property....they don't care about Marco.
