Estates man critically injured in alcohol-related motorcycle crash

— A Golden Gate Estates man was critically injured early Saturday in a motorcycle crash in Collier County.

John E. Swick, 45, was westbound on Green Boulevard when he lost control of his 2003 Harley-Davidson and overturned about a 10th of a mile west of Santa Barbara Boulevard/Logan Boulevard in Golden Gate. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, which occurred at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

After overturning onto its right side, the motorcycle slid about 85 feet. Swick, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained critical injuries when he hit the pavement of the two-lane road, FHP reports.

Swick was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Charges are pending, according to FHP.

Authorities had no additional information available on his medical condition Saturday night.
