A group of teenagers was arrested Monday afternoon after Collier County sheriff’s deputies say they stole a half-dozen fishing poles from a man’s boat in East Naples.

The victim, who lives on the 100 block of Eveningstar Cay, told deputies he noticed six fishing poles and reels worth $310 missing from his boat when he checked it Monday morning. He also noticed muddy footprints on the boat, according to an arrest report.

Shortly after, the victim noticed four teens out in the water in a boat that had lost electric power. When the victim offered to help bring them back to shore, he saw his fishing poles inside their boat and contacted the Sheriff’s Office, according to reports.

Deputies said the teens had muddy feet and could not describe the brand of the fishing poles, despite having said they were rightfully theirs.

All four suspects were arrested on charges of grand theft and burglary. Three were juveniles and are not being named. A fourth suspect, Hunter James Watson, 18, of the 2000 block of 17th Street Southwest, was taken to the Naples Jail Center.
