Press conference on coaching position.

Here, in no particular order, is a list of coaches around the country who FGCU potentially could pick to replace Andy Enfield, who announced Monday he was leaving to take the job at USC.

Marty Richter, FGCU assistant: Named FGCU’s interim head coach Tuesday, the 36-year-old Richter helped the Eagles go 41-28 and into the Sweet 16 these past two seasons. Richter has been an assistant at Bowling Green and Chipola (junior) College. From 2009-11 he was a collegiate scout for ESPN.

Dave Dickerson, former Tulane coach and current Ohio State assistant: Dickerson was 71-85 at Tulane, not exactly a basketball hotbed, from 2005-2010. He has been Ohio State’s associate head coach since 2010. FGCU junior Nate Hicks committed to Dickerson at Tulane before he was fired.

Chris Jans, Wichita State assistant head coach: Named the Shockers’ associate head coach before last season, Jans has ties to Florida, having been the head coach at Chipola (junior) College. He is 159-45 as a head coach at Chipola, Howard College and Kirkwood Community College. He’s in his sixth season at Wichita State, which is in the Final Four as a ninth seed.

Chris Caputo, Miami assistant: Caputo has groomed under Miami coach Jim Larranga for 11 seasons, dating back to their days George Mason, where they made an Elite Eight run in 2006. He was a major player in Miami’s 29-7 season and headline-grabbing Sweet 16 season. Ritchie McKay, former New Mexico coach and current Virginia assistant: McKay is 204-186 in head-coaching stints at Portland State, Colorado State, Oregon State, New Mexico and Liberty. Since then, has been an assistant to longtime friend and fourth-year Virginia coach Tony Bennett.

Russ Springmann, Texas assistant: Springmann has been with Texas coach Rick Barnes 15 years, 12 of them at Texas. He has Florida ties, having worked in the basketball office for UF coach Billy Donovan as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Casey Alexander, Stetson coach: A finalist for the FGCU job two years ago, the former longtime Belmont assistant was named the CollegeInsider.com A-Sun Coach of the Year after leading the Hatters to a 15-16 record and first conference tournament win in seven years last season.

Richard Pitino, Florida International coach: The son of Louisville coach Rick and a former Cardinals assistant for his dad, Pitino was thought to be in the mix for the FGCU job two years ago. He took over at FIU last year and led the Panthers to an 18-14 record last season.

Jeff Capel, Duke assistant, and former VCU and Oklahoma coach: Capel was a combined 161-92 as a head coach and is also respected as a four-year starter for the Blue Devils. His work with Duke legend Mike Krzyzewski cannot be overemphasized.

Dino Gaudio, former Wake Forest coach: Gaudio is out of work but respected among his peers. He was a combined 129-155 in head-coaching stints at Army, Loyola (Md.) and Wake Forest.

Matt McCall, University of Florida assistant: McCall just finished his second season at Florida after three years as an assistant at Florida Atlantic.

Corey Williams, Florida State assistant: Williams joined Leonard Hamilton’s staff a year after former FGCU coach Andy Enfield did, and just completed his sixth season.
