Ave Maria baseball blasts Barry University in the eighth for a win

The Ave Maria baseball team pulled off a 10-7 win against Barry University on Wednesday thanks to a late-game scoring flurry.

The visiting Gyrenes, down 7-4 after seven innings, turned the tables on Barry University in the eighth by scoring six runs.

Sean Trymbiski, Patrick Fahey and Trace McDermott each earned an RBI in the top of the eighth to tie the score at seven. Gabe Loweree then homered for the Gyrenes, bringing in three scorers to give Ave Maria a three-run lead.

Ray Messner sealed the win for Ave Maria by retiring all six batters he faced in the final two innings, which earned him the save.
