GOLDEN GATE ESTATES — Two Golden Gate Estates siblings are behind bars after deputies found nearly a half-million dollars worth of marijuana inside their home.
Marco Antonio Lainez, 41, and Pamela Evelyn Lainez, 38, were arrested at their home at 288 14th Ave. N.E. after Collier County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant there Tuesday.
Detectives said two rooms and the three-car garage had been converted to indoor grow rooms containing 165 marijuana plants worth a total of $495,000. The siblings also had a myriad of grow equipment worth about $30,000, including high-intensity light bulbs, high-power transformers and two extra air-conditioning units to cool down the plants, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Both Lainezes face charges of marijuana trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. Marco Lainez faces an additional charge of possession of a structure for the purpose of trafficking marijuana.
