The Florida Everblades announced the team’s roster for the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday.
In: David Rutherford, Mike Merrifield, Corey Trivino, Mathieu Roy, Shawn O’Donnell, Daniel Koger, Leigh Salters, Matthew Pistilli, Brandon MacLean, Adam Brace, A.J. Jenks
Playoff eligible: Justin Shugg, Matt Beca, Matt Marquardt, Brayden Irwin, Brody Sutter, Danick Gauthier, Alex Hutchings, Luke Pither
The Buzz: Brace and O’Donnell -- late-season signees from college -- have turned out to be valuable additions. They have a combined 10 points in less than two weeks. Salters, who has been sidelined with an injury for the past five weeks, is expected to be available for the series. Several forwards on the Everblades’ playoff eligibility list are up with Charlotte and Syracuse in the AHL. Syracuse has secured a playoff spot and Charlotte is very close to clinching a spot.
In: Dan Milan, Charles Landry, Brent Henley, Mike Cornell, Tyson Gimblett, Mike Ratchuk, Maury Edwards, Olivier-Dame Malka
Playoff eligible: Mike Brennan, Bobby Raymond, Beau Schmitz, Tommi Kivisto, Gabe Guentzel
The Buzz: Henley finished the regular season as the ECHL’s leader in penalty minutes with 205. Gimblett saw action at forward after being acquired, but he has been used as a defenseman in recent games. Malka missed the final two weeks of the regular season with an injury, but he should be available for the series.
In: Jesse Deckert, Pat Nagle
Reserve: Rob Madore
Playoff eligible: John Muse, Cody Reichard
The Buzz: Deckert, who has won nine of his first 11 games as a pro, will be the go-to guy to start the series. Charlotte is carrying three goalies, including Muse and Madore. Ditto in Syracuse, which has Nagle.
