Lee County Sheriff’s Office employees lost nearly half a ton in a first-quarter weight loss competition.
The cumulative total weight loss was 899 pounds for the nearly 130 participants who completed the ninth annual "Fitness Challenge" from Jan. 3 to April 3. The voluntary, agency-wide contest intended to make winners of the “biggest weight losers,” according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
After an initial weigh-in, employees competed individually, as well as in teams. The winners were decided by the most percentage of weight lost for male, female and team categories.
The male winner lost an impressive 45.2 pounds and the female lost 40.4 pounds. The three person team, “Phat Bodies,” was tops, losing almost 110 pounds total.
