IMMOKALEE — An Immokalee man shot twice in his home by a robber Friday night was released from the hospital Saturday, as investigators continue looking for the suspect.
Collier deputies haven’t released a description of the man they say entered Gabriel Carrillo’s home on New Market Road around 10:30 p.m., stole money, and shot the 53-year-old. He was taken by a medical helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.
Carrillo was home alone when the robbery happened, according to Michelle Batten, spokeswoman for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Details on how the intruder entered the home and the nature of Carrillo’s injuries haven’t been made public.

A man was shot late Friday during a possible home invasion robbery in Immokalee, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was shot twice in a home at 1003 New Market Road W., Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Michelle Batten said. Deputies received a call of the shooting at 10:47 p.m.
The victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital via air ambulance. However, his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Batten said.
The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation and is searching for the shooter. Additional details were not available.
