SW Florida weather: Morning rain today, sunshine for weekend

After beneficial rains yesterday, more is to come this morning as a frontal system continues to work its way across the peninsula.

Showers and a few storms will be moving into Southwest Florida. The biggest threats with some of these storms will be heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.

These showers and storms will continue to progress off to the south and east with improving weather conditions throughout the early afternoon hours.

Mostly sunny skies and a dry weather pattern will remain in place through the weekend and the middle part of the work week, with afternoon his climbing back into the middle and upper 80s.
