In the Know: What is planned at Bonita site of former Henricks Jewelers?

TIM ATEN

Q: The building has been razed which housed the former Henricks jewelry store on U.S. 41 north of Bonita Beach Road. What is going into that parcel?

— Sharon Fay, Bonita Springs

Q: I saw recently the building that housed the old Henricks Jewelers store and others had been torn down after being empty for a while. Do you have an idea what is planned for there?

— Jan B., Bonita Springs

A: Chase Bank is planning to open a branch this summer at that location, 27820 U.S. 41 S., near the northwest corner of Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs.

The Bonita branch will open in late June, said Chase spokeswoman Maribel Ferrer. The target opening date is June 25.

The location was the last remaining store for Henricks Jewelers, which closed in 2009. The jewelry store started as a family owned business launched in Bonita Springs in 1982 and grew to six area stores before the down economy crippled it and eventually led to its closing.

That Bonita building also was home to Dunkin Donuts before it relocated its Bonita Springs location in January 2012 to the former site of Jimmy’s Roadhouse, 28155 U.S. 41 N., just south of Bonita Beach Road.
