Parent/child swim lessons and level one and two swim lessons are on the April schedule of programs at the Greater Marco Family YMCA. Parent, child and preschool swimming encourages self-awareness and self-confidence. Lessons boost learning and education and improve swimming skills, strength and endurance.

Participants in the swim lesson classes are connected to others in the class, make new friends and recognize new role models. Children will have a stronger bond with their parents and family members from the take-home activities of family huddles and sharing boating safety tips.

Classes are from Monday through Thursday for two weeks. Level one and two classes are 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Parent/Child Classes are 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Swim lesson dates are April 22 to May 2. Additional swim lesson classes are available from May 20 to May 31.

The fee is $75 for Marco YMCA members and $95 for community participants. More information about the Aquatic Swim program is available at jennifer@marcoislandymca.org.

What are your children doing this summer? If your children are 12 years old or under and are at least 5 years old by June 1, then the place to be is Summer Day Camp at the Greater Marco Family YMCA.

There are 10 weeks of camp, with each week’s activities based around a specific theme. Camp begins on June 10 and continues to Aug. 16. Camp times are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Camp days are Monday through Friday.

Day Camp has been a long established YMCA program, encompassing many skill areas such as academic support to prevent summer learning loss, leadership, team building, and physical activity. YMCA Day Campers explore, they grow and they have fun. Sign up your child or children for their favorite theme week, or join us for all 10 weeks. They won’t want summer to end.
