Joshua David Bishop, 22, of Stone Mountain, Ga.

— A Georgia man told hospital staff he was high on cocaine and methamphetamines when he punched a Naples police officer in the face Saturday afternoon.

Officers caught up to Joshua David Bishop at the Naples Yacht Club, 700 14th Ave. S., after witnesses said he broke into a nearby house that was being remodeled. Bishop, who was covered in blood, was “yelling incoherently” and knocking over patio chairs, an arrest report stated.

As an officer tried to handcuff Bishop, the 22-year-old punched the officer in the face, reports said. After a short struggle, officers were able to get both his hands inside the cuffs.

Bishop was taken to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital, where he made the admissions to staff about his drug use, reports stated. Bishop, of Stone Mountain, Ga., was then transferred to the Naples Jail Center, where he faces felony charges of battery on an officer and resisting an officer with violence.
