2 East Naples men arrested after argument over dog

Two East Naples men were arrested late Sunday after an argument about a dog turned violent.

The victim told Collier deputies he went to let his dog out to use the bathroom when the dog wandered into his neighbor’s apartment on the 2100 block of Washington Avenue. The victim said he went to his neighbor’s door and began to call his dog, at which point the neighbor, Alexander Maturell, started yelling at him.

Maturell’s friend Miguel Angel Garcia-Torres, who was attending a party at Maturell’s, then came to the door and yelled at the victim as well. The victim said Garcia-Torres then pushed him backward.

Feeling “outnumbered and afraid for his life,” the victim returned home with his dog, who by this point had exited the apartment, according to an arrest report.

When deputies arrived to investigate, Garcia-Torres was uncooperative and shoved a deputy away, reports stated.

Garcia-Torres, 63, and Maturell, 40, each face a misdemeanor charge of battery. Garcia-Torres is accused of an additional felony charge of resisting an officer with violence.
