Florida Gulf Coast University soccer coaches Jim Blankenship (women) and Bob Butehorn (men) have led their Eagles teams to three consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference titles and two NCAA tournament appearances. Previously, both have earned Coach of the Year honors.
This summer, they are hoping to instill the foundations of such success in area youth players.
For girls, FGCU is currently accepting applications to three camps: Junior Elite Camp, ages 10 to 13, June 10 to 13. Day camp, ages 6 to 14, June 10-14. Elite Camp, ages 14 to 18, July 18 to 21. On the boys’ side, FGCU will hold a High School ID Clinic on May 11. It will provide players the opportunity to compete against players in the same graduating class in a convenient, one-day format. The ID clinic is open to all high school age players, but the enrollment will be limited to the first 36 field players and six goalkeepers in each upcoming graduation year.
For those players looking for a full campus experience, the FGCU ID Camp will run from Aug. 2 to 4. This three-day program is for residential or commuter campers and it is open to all high school-age players. The FGCU ID camp offers players an opportunity to experience life on campus while maintaining the focus and intensity of our ID Clinic. It also allows players full exposure to both the FGCU coaching staff and guest collegiate coaches.
