The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s golf team finished third, one stroke out of second place, at the Atlantic Sun tournament Wednesday in Jekyll Island, Ga.

The Eagles had a 298 in the final round for an 887 total, one behind Kennesaw State and seven behind champion ETSU. The third-place finish ties the highest ever for FGCU; the Eagles tied for third two years ago.

FGCU redshirt freshman Kristin Swindell shot a 1-under-par 71 for a 216 total to tie for fourth. Junior Briana Carlson had a 73 and finished ninth with a 219 total. Sophomore Georgia Price struggled to a final-round 78 to drop into 11th. Sara Detlefsen and Chelsea Guoynes tied for 18th and 36th, respectively.
