Sing, sing, sing
Opera Naples will hold auditions by appointment for its summer youth program on May 18. Auditions are open to performers ages 12-22. The program is June 17-28, with performances June 29 and 30.
Price is $200; scholarships are available.
Students will perform the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta “Ruddigore (The Witch’s Curse).”

Board adds three
Gulfshore Playhouse added Todd Gates, Gail Kern Paster and Tennille Sevigny to the board of directors. They join Bob Harden (chairman), Kristen Coury (president), Sandy Pastoor (secretary), Don Gunther, Jason Korn and Jack Nortman.
Jazz times three
Three high school jazz bands will be joined by nationally known guest soloists Lew Del Gatto, sax, and Dan Miller, trumpet, at this season’s final free Jazz in the Park Series concert, 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Sugden Regional Park, 4284 Avalon Drive, Naples.
On-site parking is $5. Food, beer and wine by Fred’s Fun, Food & Spirits are available for purchase. Attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating.
Performing will be three of Collier County’s leading high school jazz bands: Gulf Coast High School, under the direction of Steven DeLadurantey; Barron Collier High School, under the direction of Benny Bolden, Jr.; and Palmetto Ridge High School, under the direction of Skip Pardee.

The show is based on the poignant story of “The Rainmaker,” and is familiar to many people from the Katherine Hepburn-Burt Lancaster movie version.

Hey, hoopy froods and random cool chicks and dudes! Stage 2 Improv will hold auditions at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, for a number of Tobye Studio Theatre improv weekends. No prior improv experience (or preparation of any kind) are needed. Have a positive attitude and be prepared to wing it.

‘Radio Daze’ adds star
Florida Repertory Theatre’s April 27 “Radio Daze” fundraiser at Estero Country Club at the Vines added special guest State Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen last week. The annual gala this year features a vintage live radio program, complete with professional actors and local celebrities.
