The last Collier County tennis players remaining in the state tournament were eliminated Thursday.

Lely’s duo of Tatia Ghviniashvilli and Casey Mendel lost in the first round of the Class 2A individual doubles tournament in Sanford. The Trojans lost 6-3, 6-2 to Riviera Beach-Suncoast’s Kachterine Katz and Natalia Pluta.

Ghviniashvilli and Mendel won a district championship at No. 1 doubles and advanced to the individual state finals because Lely did not advance as a team.

Earlier in the week, Community School’s Jack Flagg, who won district at No. 1 singles to advance to the 1A state finals in Sanford, lost 7-6, 6-4 to Fort Pierce-Carroll’s Andrew Blair in the first round of the individual singles finals.
