The Taste of ...

■ The Taste of the Beach, sponsored by the Greater Fort Myers Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Old San Carlos Boulevard from Third to First streets, Fort Myers Beach. The event features food from 20 local restaurants and live con­certs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission: $5, adults and children older than 12; free, children younger than 12. ■ Taste of Collier will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Bayfront at Goodlette-Frank Road and Fifth Avenue South, Naples. Sample foods from more than 30 local restau­rants, see the ice-carving contest, a chef’s competi­tion and musical perfor­mances. Admission is $5 per person and free for children 5 and younger. Food tickets are $1 each and samplings range from about $3 to $5. Proceeds will go to St. Mat­thew’s House, American Red Cross-Florida’s South­ern Gulf Coast Region, ProStart Culinary Arts and Heil Luthringer, an organi­zation that provides support for those with multiple scle­rosis and their families. Naples Pathways Coali­tion is sponsoring dinner rides at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28, and May 26, June 23 and July 28. Local opening

The Local, a bistro in the Bed Bath & Beyond Plaza at 5323 Airport-Pulling Road, Naples, will open for dinner on Mon­day, April 29, and for lunch and din­ner on May 13. The farm­- and sea-to-table restaurant will specialize in local and organic fare.

New chef

Something new

■ IHOP has introduced brioche French toast that comes in three new flavors: Bananas Foster, Berry Berry and Peaches and Cream.

■ Chick-fil-A is introducing three premium salads and an improved grilled chicken cool wrap on Monday, April 29. Look for the Chick-fil-A Cobb salad, Chick-fil-A Asian salad and the Chick-fil-A grilled market salad. Prices start at $6.79 and have between 180 and 430 calories without dressings. ■ Peeps Brand candies is adding bubble gum-flavored and sweet lemonade-flavored marshmallow chicks to its line. Lemonade chicks will be white marshmallow with yellow glitter and bubble gum chicks are a pink marshmallow inside and out.

The company also has introduced Mike and Ike Lemonade Blend.

The lemonade products will help raise awareness and funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the fight against childhood cancer.
