— A man who was arrested on retail theft also faces charges stemming from the theft of an SUV stolen from a Naples car lot earlier this month.

Roberto Rafael Jolly, 49, of the 600 block of North Eighth Street, Naples, was arrested Friday by Naples police near the 200 block of South Eighth Street. He faces petty theft and grand theft auto charges.

Land Rover Naples security footage showed a man wearing dark clothing and carrying a large black backpack walking into the service bays of the dealership, but he was never seen exiting, a report said.

Instead, a white Land Rover Freelander was seen driving out of the service bay, the report said.

Friday, officers picked Jolly up on a retail theft that occurred on Central Avenue, and polcie said he would not provide identification.

However, a detective at the scene recognized Jolly from the security footage and, upon his arrival to the Naples police station, Jolly was interviewed and questioned, the report said.

Jolly later told officers he was at the Land Rover dealership to buy a vehicle but blacked out and couldn’t remember, the report said.
