EAST NAPLES — Wise Guys Supper and Comedy Club opened April 14 in the former location of Loft 59 and Sway Lounge on U.S. 41 East in East Naples.
Owners Clyde and Madonna Wilcox made offers that former Fleming’s Steakhouse chefs Miguel Cruz and Patrick Osthoff couldn’t refuse to be the club’s executive chef and sous chef, respectively.
Dinner, lunch and tapas menus have been created for dry-aged steaks, seafood and pasta dishes with “wise guys” nicknames. For instance, a 14-ounce New York strip is the Gambino, an 18-ounce bone-in ribeye is the Colombo, and a 32-ounce porterhouse for two is the Corleone. Other steaks are named Capone, Bonanno, Genovese and Soprano.
Grill selections also include “Swims wit da Fishes’ grouper in a bag, “On the Lamb” lamb burger, “Knuckle Sandwich” chicken B.L.T., and “Fugedaboudit” grilled salmon with guava glaze. “The Commission” slider trio features wagyu beef, lamb and crab cakes with hibachi slaw, micro greens and harissa.
Appetizers include "Loan Shark" Cajun-style shark bites, “Untouchables" steak tips pizziola, and "Hit Man" marinated stuffed portabella mushrooms. The seasonally changing menu also includes pizza, gourmet flatbreads, soups and salads.
Of course, the club is not all about serious food. It’s supposed to be funny. “You mean funny like I’m a clown?”
Shows with national comedians are scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The venue is closed Monday through Wednesday during the summer.
Wise Guys, 2059 U.S. 41 E., opens at 11 a.m. for lunch on Friday and Saturday; dinner is served 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and tapas are available during shows. Reservations are encouraged at 239-234-6890.
