Seminole Museum field trip: Sign up by Sept. 1

Join the Marco Island Historical Society on a field trip to the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum on the Big Cypress Indian Reservation of the Seminole Tribe of Florida on Sept. 7.

The 64-acre campus features a permanent exhibit depicting Seminole life at the turn of the century, a boardwalk through the cypress dome, and a native village where you can watch Seminole tribal members create traditional crafts, such as baskets, beaded necklaces and wooden carvings. Admission is $9, with lunch available from the Swamp Water Café. Lunch is extra. Participants will meet at the Marco Island Historical Museum, 180 South Heathwood, Marco Island at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 7. Transportation will be either carpool or bus depending on the number of participants. If sufficient numbers request a bus at an additional cost, one will be arranged.
