Traffic alert: Southbound lanes on I-75 will be closed tonight in Sarasota County

The southbound Interstate 75 lanes at Ponce de León overpass, which is mile marker 184 in Sarasota County, will close at 10 p.m. to continue emergency repairs on the bridge.

Work continues overnight with travel lanes reopening at 8 a.m. Monday. Motorists will need to use this detour:

■ Southbound traffic will exit I-75 at River Road (exit 191) and travel west on River Road to southbound US 41.

■ Motorists will proceed approximately nine miles to Sumter Boulevard, turn east and continue to the southbound entrance ramp onto I-75 (exit 182).

Motorists are urged to plan extra travel time in this area at night. Law enforcement will be on site to assist motorists.
